MADISON, WI (April 16, 2019) - A number of close battles have resulted in tough losses for the Bryant & Stratton College baseball team (7-18) and Monday's double header at Madison College was no different as the Bobcats dropped game one with a 2-0 loss while game two resulted in an extra-innings 7-6 loss.
Bryant & Stratton drops to 5-10 in region play with 18 region games remaining in the season.
GAME ONE VS MADISON COLLEGE (2-0 Loss)
After a scoreless three-innings for both sides, the Madison College WolfPack scored the only two runs of the game in the top of the fourth.
Despite multiple chances to get on the board, the Bobcats failed to cross home plate and saw the first game of the double header go to the WolfPack.
Kyle Taran (So.) led the way for the Bobcats with two hits followed by Alec Spang (Fr.) and Ellis Nosek (Fr.) each with one hit.
A sensational day on the mound, Eloy Puentes threw all seven-innings giving up two earned runs while striking out five.
GAME TWO VS MADISON COLLEGE (7-6 Loss - Eight innings)
Looking for retaliation, it was Bryant & Stratton who got things going first in game two after Taran sent one over the wall in the bottom of the second to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
With one out and bases loaded, Jose Ortiz (Fr.) walked to bring in the Bobcats second run of the game and just a couple batters later Leighton Myers (So.) scored on a wild pitch to give the Bobcats a 3-0 advantage.
Trailing 3-0, Madison battled to put a total of six runs on the board throughout the fourth, fifth and sixth which gave them a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.
The Bobcats tacked on one run in the sixth to cut the deficit to 6-4 and held the WolfPack scoreless in the top of the seventh.
Bryant & Stratton needed atleast two runs in the bottom of the inning to keep the game alive. Pinch hitter, Malik Jihad, provided those two runs as he launched a two-run shot to left field which tied the game at 6-6 and eventually sent the game into extra-innings.
In the top of the eighth, Madison College managed to score one-run putting the pressure on the Bobcats in the bottom of the inning which was enough to prevent a Bobcat comeback.
Taran finished the game with two hits and one RBI followed by Jihad with one hit and two RBI's.
Dominick Meyer threw five innings allowing three earned runs.
