DES PLAINES, IL (April 23, 2019) - Squaring off for the first time in history, the Bryant & Stratton College baseball team (7-21) and the Oakton Community College Owls played a pair of tightly contested games resulting in a 0-2 series loss for the Bobcats. The Bobcats dropped game one 3-0 and game two 3-2.
The losses move the Bobcats to 5-13 in region play with 14 region games remaining in the regular season.
GAME ONE VS OAKTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE (3-0 LOSS)
The Owls got in the board early scoring two runs in the first inning and one in the third.
A strong defensive battle from both sides led to just two hits for the Bobcats on the game and five hits for the Owls.
Ryan Kalinowski (Fr.) and Malik Hill (So.) provided the only hits for the Bobcats.
Eloy Puentes (Fr.) tossed all six-innings allowing just five hits while striking out three batters.
GAME TWO VS OAKTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE (3-2 Loss)
In game two, it was the Bobcats striking first after Kalinowski ripped a double to right field in the top of the first to bring in the first run of the game.
At the next at bat, Alec Spang (Fr.) singled to left field advancing Kalinowski to third which led to Keanu Walkush (So.) bringing in the second run of the game on a line drive to to center field.
Leading 2-0, the Bobcats forced a 1-2-3 inning for the Owls offensively in the bottom of the first but failed to get keep the bats hot in the top of the second.
Oakton scored one-run in the bottom of the second and third to tie the game at 2 a-piece.
With the score tied at 2-2, the Oakton managed to cross the plate in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead.
In their last at-bats, Bryant & Stratton loaded the bases in the top of the seventh but failed to bring in a run which gave Oakton the series sweep.
The Bobcats totaled 10 hits on the game to the Owls six.
David Paleo (So.) finished the game with three hits followe by Kalinowski with two hits and an RBI.
Dominick Meyer (So.) tossed all six-innings allowing six hits and three earned runs while striking out two.
UP NEXT:
Bryant & Stratton will have one day off before lacing the cleats back up as they travel to Oak Creek, WI on Thursday to take on in-state foes Milwaukee Area Technical College for a double header.
First pitch of game one will be tossed at 3:00pm.
MATC owns the all-time series over the Bobcats as they earned a 2-0 sweep last season but the Bobcats will look to make the series even come first pitch.
