OCONOMOWOC, Wis. — The Bryant & Stratton College baseball team played it's second consecutive home doubleheader on April 17 and faced Region 4 foe, Rock Valley on windy day. Both teams battled hard and walked away with a split. Here are the highlights.
Game 1 | Rock Valley 10, Bryant & Stratton 2
Alex Breckheimer took the mound for the Bobcats and he was looking to bounce back from a loss he took at the hand of Madison College. Things didn't start off well when two runs came across but the Bobcats offense picked him up after Sean Reilly hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first.
However, that would be all the Bobcats would muster offensively and the Gold Eagles took advantage. In the next four innings they right across seven runs on a number of short bloopers, but the string of runs was highlighted by a home run in the fourth.
The Bobcats dropped the game 10-2, but they'd end the day on a positive note in game two.
Notes
-
Brayden Pleau and Ashton Kampa both had two hits.
-
Luis Serrano reached base twice after being hit by two pitches.
Game 2 | Bryant & Stratton 12, Rock Valley 11
Kolden Hunter started on the bump for Bryant & Stratton College and helped it to a clean inning to begin the game. It also got the offensive one in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly from Kampa and two-run home run by Carlos Walta.
But Rock Valley answered with a six-run top of the third and scored one more time in the fifth to hold a four-run lead. The Bobcats chipped away at the lead scoring five in the fifth and sixth innings but the Golden Eagles responded with runs of their own too.
It came down to the last inning and with the Bobcats trailing 11-8, they needed a little magic to walk away with a win. With one out, they hit back-to-back singles and Alex Esser reached on an error. Serrano followed that with a two-run double and Jacob Weigman walked to bring in the tying run.
Then, on a 1-0 count, Reilly popped out to right field to bring in Serrano to win in the game for the Bobcats.
Notes
-
Serrano, Pleau and Walta all recorded two RBIs.
