Bio

Alex Tomter will enter his third year as the Head Baseball Coach at Bryant & Stratton College this season. He is the second coach in program history.

Tomter's first year was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the Bobcats only played five games that season, the progress was very apparent as they went 3-2 including a win over a nationally ranked team.

Year two, which ended up being coach's first full year, was a great success for the program. The Bobcats smashed their way into the schools record books breaking virtually every record. The team won 24 games which more than doubled the previous record. The Bobcats also qualified for the Region IV playoffs for the first time in history with a 16-14 record in Region IV play. The team led all Bryant & Stratton Athletics teams in GPA with a 3.4. The Bobcats also sent their first player to a Division 1 program after the year.

Tomter, a native of Brookfield, comes from Kettle Moraine High School where he served as the head baseball coach for the 2019 season. The Lasers featured multiple future college athletes on their 2019 roster and made a run to the Regional Final.

From 2015-17, Tomter served as an assistant coach for Steve Sanfilippo at Milwaukee School of Engineering (NCAA DIII) where he helped the program reach records of 24-22 in 2016 and 21-21 in 2017. The Raiders qualified for the NACC Conference Tournament for the first time in 2016 and made a run all the way to the championship game.

In 2012, Tomter worked as a video scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Low-A South Atlantic League. Tomter also spent time working with the major league team at the Spring Training Complex in Bradenton, FL. Tomter worked with dozens of current major league players in his time with the Pirates including Gerrit Cole, Andrew McCutchen, Jameson Taillon and Gregory Polanco.

From 2009 to 2011, Tomter was the assistant coach for Jeff Bigler at Brookfield Central High School, his former coach and school. The Lancers won a Greater Metro Conference championship and were the number 1 ranked team in Wisconsin during Tomter's time there.

Tomter graduated from Concordia University-Wisconsin as a scholar athlete with a double major in Public Relations and Business Communications. He was a three year member of the Baseball program at Concordia where he earned Northern Athletics Conference Rookie of the Year honors and currently holds many all time Falcons' records.

In addition to his Head Coach duties, Tomter assists in many aspects of the Bobcats Athletics Program including fundraising and sports information.

Tomter currently resides in Brookfield.
