MILWAUKEE, Wis. (May 24, 2017) - The Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats basketball team continues to add great size and talent this off-season. The most recent addition to the team is Zach Markland out of Milwaukee, WI.
From Milwaukee Destiny High School, Markland and the Eagles went 25-1 and were crowned WIAA Division 4 State Champions this past season. Markland averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
"I have followed Zach and Destiny High School all season and was hoping this day would come where Zach would sign with us," Bobcats Head coach Brian Richert said. He is an extremely athletic wing player who has untapped potential."
Winning a high school state championship is quite an accomplishment and Richert is looking for Markland to bring that championship mentality to the Bobcats next year.
"I enjoyed following his team to a state championship this past season and we are honored to have Zach part of the basketball family here," Richert said.
The 6'6" wing player brings mobility when it comes to guarding both perimeter players and taller players in the post. With his exceptional ability to move up and down the court, he will be able to use his length and agility to rebound and score around the basket efficiently.
"I am going to bring a hard work and leadership skills to the team next year," Markland said. "This is a new team and a new beginning for me which makes me extremely excited."
The Bobcat fans and coaching staff will surely look forward to watching him develop over the course of the season next year.
It seems as though the Bobcats roster is becoming deeper by the day but Richert will continue to recruit top athletes until his roster is where it needs to be.
