WAUWATOSA, WI (December 22, 2018) - Holding an undefeated record in region play, the Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team went on the road to Cicero, IL where they suffered their first region loss of the season to Morton College 73-68.
The Bobcats fall to 11-5 overall and 10-1 in region play.
After a sluggish first half, Bryant & Stratton trailed Morton 38-26 with the final 20 minutes on the clock.
Searching for a comeback, the Bobcats put together a 14-6 run and cut the deficit to just four after freshman guard, Justin Brookens, drilled one from long distance making it a 44-40 game with 16 minutes remaining.
Responding to the Bobcats aggressive play, Morton kept their composure as they extended their lead to nine (55-41) over a four minute span with 12 minutes left in the contest.
A back and forth battle down the stretch, Bryant & Stratton closed the gap down to one (58-57) with just over two minutes remaining after freshman guard, Manny Jingco, knocked down one of two from the line.
In the final seconds, the Bobcats saw themselves down 70-68 with seven seconds on the clock and were forced to foul.
Calm and composed, Morton went to the line and sunk two of two to close out the game giving the Bobcats their first region loss of the season.
Just three players scored in double figures for the Bobcats as Brookens led the way with a team high 20 points followed by sophomore guard, Kyle McDermed dropping 13 points and eight boards.
Jingco added 10 points on 3-6 shooting from the field.
The Bobcats shot 38% from the field and 34.4% from beyond the arc.
Morton outrebounded the Bobcats 37 to 24 and shot 10-24 from three-point range.

Bryant & Stratton will have 11 days off before they travel to Grayslake, IL to take on the College of Lake County Lancers for another region iv match. Bryant & Stratton defeated the Lancers 72-59 last season and will prepare to earn a similar result again.
Tip-off will take place at 7:15pm.
