WAUWATOSA, WI (February 10, 2019) - It was the second time this season that the Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team defeated the Bay College Norse as they traveled to Escanaba, MI on Saturday and earned a 88-75 victory.
The Bobcats defeated the Norse 97-80 in late January this season.
The win improved Bryant & Stratton to 20-7 overall and they remain 15-2 in region play.
Leading the way for Bryant & Stratton was floor general Justin Brookens dropping 26 points, five steals and four assists. Brookens leads the team in scoring on the season at 21 points per game.
Sophomore guard Kyle McDermed produced 21 points, six rebounds and four assists off of the bench while freshman Manny Jingco added 11 points.
To start of the game, the Bobcats fell behind early trailing 10-3 with 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
In need of a spark, McDermed converted back-to-back layups through traffic to bring the Bobcats back within three points (10-7) with 14 minutes left before intermission.
Midway through the half, Bryant & Stratton took their first lead of the game at 21-18 after freshman forward Jose Sosa knocked down a shot from long distance.
A back and forth battle the remainder off the half resulted in a 44-43 Bobcats advantage at the break.
Bryant & Stratton shot 45.7% from the field including 8-18 from beyond the arc in the first half to the Norse 42.4% and 5-14 from distance.
In the first six minutes of the second half, the Bobcats broke out on a 15-6 run to take a 59-49 lead after Jingco knocked down a shot from 22 feet.
Responding the the Bobcats run, Bay College cut the deficit down to single-digits at the midway point of the second half trailing by only eight points.
Over the course of the final 10 minutes, Bryant & Stratton managed to extend their lead back up to double figures and steal the win.
The Bobcats shot 49.2% on the game and 43.8% from distance.
