WAUKESHA, WI — Bryant & Stratton track and field competed in the Private College Championships hosted by Carroll University.
Several Bobcats took their talents to the event and performed well.
Hugo Schoug competed in multiple events, including the 100m, 400m, 1500m, 200m and long jump. In the long jump, he recorded a leap of 5.89m. Another highlight of the day came when he ran 23.21 seconds in the 200m dash.
“Hugo took on his first 200-meter race in his track and field career. And let me tell you, he absolutely crushed it,” head track & field coach Shanku Mays said.
Taniera Haynes also had an exceptional performance in the women’s 100m and 200m. In the 100m, she finished 10th, running 13.34 seconds, and sixth in the 200m with a time of 26.97 seconds.
James Hughes made his mark in the competition running in the 200m and 400m. He recorded a time of 23.00 seconds and 52.74 in the 400m dash.
Sophomore Emmanuel Asabere stood out in the competition when he came in first in the long jump, recording a 7.07m jump.
The Bobcats have four more events before the end of the season, but coach Mays will aim to help his athletes improve and potentially qualify for nationals in May.
