Asabere also recorded a 7.17m jump at the Red Hawk Invite and qualified for the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship that will be held on May 1 in Gainesville, Florida.
"We came back from winter break, and we started practicing with coach Tay, our new long jump coach,” Asabere said. “I started practicing with him every Tuesday and Thursday.”
The women’s team did not compete in the event.
The Bobcats have a handful of events before the championship, but coach Shaunku Mays will aim to help his athletes improve and potentially qualify for the championship alongside Asabere.
