Bobcats Overcome Double-Digit Deficit to Earn Split

WAUWATOSA, WI (April 14, 2019) Coming off of back-to-back region losses, the Bryant & Stratton College softball team (11-19) managed to earn their second regional win of the season on Saturday after a series split with the Black Hawk College-Moline Braves. The Bobcats fell short to the Braves 7-4 in game one but managed to overcome a 13-1 deficit in game two which resulted in a 17-16 win.
GAME ONE VS BLACK HAWK COLLEGE-MOLINE (7-4 Loss)
Bryant & Stratton found themselves in a 5-0 hole after the top of the sixth but quickly recovered in the bottom of the inning after Brianna Zook (Fr.) hit a solo-shot to center field.
Later in the inning, Melissa Biefled (So.) scored the second run of the game for the Bobcats on a pass ball which was followed by a two-run homerun from Heather Anderson (So.) to bring the Bobcats within one-run heading into the top of the seventh.
Despite the late push, the Braves added two more runs in the top of the seventh and ran away with a 7-4 victory.
Anderson led the way with two hits and two RBI's followed by Zook with two hits and one RBI.
Alyssa Hild threw all seven-innings allowing five earned runs while striking out three.
GAME TWO VS BLACK HAWK COLLEGE-MOLINE (17-16 Win)
Through the first two and a half-inngs it was the Braves controlling the game as they surged out to a 13-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third.
Despite the Bobcats putting up four-runs up on the board in the third, Black Hawk College still maintained a 13-5 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth the Bobcats offense came alive as they compiled a seven-run inning to trail just 13-12 heading into the top of the fifth.
In the fifth, the Braves and Bobcats each scored one additional run to make the score a 14-13 game.
The Braves extended their one-run lead to three-runs in the top of the sixth after scoring two more runs.
Down 16-13 in the bottom of the sixth, Bryant & Stratton took a 17-16 after Anderson doubled on a line drive to center field.
Bryant & Stratton needed three-outs in the top of the seventh to complete the remarkable comback and that is exactly what they did.
Anderson finished the game with three hits and two RBI's while Samantha Flannery (Fr.) produced two hits and five RBI's.
Mercedes (Fr.) tossed 2.0 innings.
