Bryant & Stratton College softball sent home
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Bryant & Stratton College softball team averaged 7.8 runs a game this season.
But, unfortunately for the Bobcats, the bats went quiet and came out on the wrong side of the contest against St. Louis.
However, Holly Lowenberg, who finished the Bobcats first game of nationals against Louisburg, was a bright spot for the Bobcats. She took to the circle and did all she could. She pitched a complete game and while she'd give up eight runs and three runs, she gave the Bobcats opportunities to win the game.
The Archers scored the game's first run with one out in the top of the first. They doubled, and with the help of a Bobcat error, St. Louis scored the first run of the game.
Nora Statz recorded the first hit for the Bobcats in the bottom of the first. That'd be one of three hits they'd record for the day. Bryant & Stratton wouldn't record a run, though. It'd go quickly in the next two innings, but it would threaten in the bottom of the fourth. Carrissa Heisdorf led off the inning with a single, but the Archers recorded the first out with a fielder's choice.
Joscelyn Bennett singled, and with runners on the corners, the Bobcats had runners in scoring position, but they also had two outs. Madie Jagoditsh came to the plate, and on a 2-2 count, she popped out to the third baseman.
The Bobcats wouldn't threaten again and would have three consecutive 1-2-3 innings. The Archers tacked on two more runs in the sixth and seventh innings to stay alive in the NJCAA DII World Series.
This season marked a significant milestone in the Bobcats' history. They concluded the season with an impressive 39-8 record, the best in the program's history. This was the second time the team had qualified for the national tournament, a testament to their hard work and dedication. The Bobcats have much to be proud of, and they can look forward to another successful season in 2025.
