WAUWATOSA, WI (January 14, 2019) - Coming off of back-to-back victories, the Bryant & Stratton women's basketball team earned their third consecutive win Monday night after defeating Kennedy-King College by 41 points (91-50) at home.
The win improved the Bobcats to 13-8 overall and 7-5 in region play.
Having four days off from competition, the Bobcats failed to skip a beat as they were rolling early getting out to a 25-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
"Our transition game was very effective," Bobcats head coach, Jeff Lorenz, said. "We did a great job producing high percentage shots."
Throughout the second quarter, the Bobcats extended their lead to 34 (54-20) after freshman guard, Essence Rayford, converted a tough layup through traffic right before the break.
"We definitely got into the rythem of things in the second quarter," Lorenz said. "Everyone stayed active and impacted the game."
Leading 54-20 to start the second half, Bryant & Stratton kept their foot on the gas as they surged out on a 15-0 run (69-20) in the first five minutes of the the third quarter.
"The beginning of the third quarter is always vital in any game," Lorenz said.
Responding to the Bobcats run, Kennedy-King put together a 10-3 run cutting the deficit to 42 (72-30).
Looking to maintain their lead, sophomore guard, Valerie Nzeakor, knocked down contested shot with just over two mintutes left in the third quarter giving the Bobcats a 74-30 advantage.
"We felt like we controlled the game and stayed strong defensively despite having scoring droughts offensively," Lorenz said.
With two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Bobcats saw themselves ahead 90-46 and ran away with their largest margin of victory on the season.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was sophomore forward, Maddy McCoy, dropping 15 points and eight rebounds followed by freshman guard, Kiyanna Rodgers, with 15 points on 5-10 shooting from the field.
Freshman guard, Essence Rayford, added 14 points off of the bench.
The Bobcats shot 39.3% from the field and outrebounded Kennedy-King 56-45.

Bryant & Stratton will remain at home this week as they host Lakeland College on Thursday evening.
