Women's soccer season preview
MILWAUKEE — Women’s soccer will begin its season on Saturday and with the eagerness of the new season comes exceptions. And new head coach Sendi Jimenez-Garcia has goals for her new squad.
“This season, our main goal is to build a solid foundation for the future. We have a diverse group of players from various soccer backgrounds, so we’re focusing on improving individual technical skills to ensure everyone is on the same page,” Garcia said. “Given that we have a smaller team this year, it’s crucial that we stay healthy while consistently giving our full potential on the field. It’s all about growth, development, and setting the stage for future success.”
Garcia is also excited to see how some of her players perform during the season.
“I’m eager to see all of my players perform on the pitch this season,” Garcia said. “They’ve all put in a tremendous amount of hard work during the preseason, and I’m excited to see that pay off. However, if I had to highlight a couple of players, Luna and Beth come to mind. They both have an incredible ability to read the game and create magic on the field. I’m confident they’ll be scoring some spectacular goals this season.”
While Garcia has plenty of belief in her players, she also has confidence in herself as a coach.
“As this is my first college coaching job, I’ll view the season as a success if all of my players finish the season with the same passion for the game that they had when they first started,” Garica said. “Additionally, I want to see them grow technically as players and develop into leaders both on and off the field. Success also means they’ve excelled academically, balancing their studies with their commitment to the team.”
The Bobcats take on the Black Hawk College Braves at 3 p.m. central time.
